Indian team was playing their first match against the favorites England. Also, the Indian team was in good form from last one year. England captain Heather Knight won the toss and elected to bowl first. Indian opener Smriti Mandhana & Punam Raut gave a good start. In that Smriti were in attacking mood. Smriti got out after scoring 90 off 72 balls. It was a good base for Mithali Raj & Harmanpreet Kaur. Then Punam & Mithali added 78 runs for a 2nd wicket. Punam (86) got out in 43rd over on 222. Then attacking batter Harmanpreet Kaur added 59 runs for a 3rd wicket. Mithali (71) got out on the final ball of inning and Indian scored 281 runs in 50 overs. With this 71 Mithali recorded 7th consecutive 50+ score in ODI. For England captain, Knight took 2 wickets where Danielle Hazell took one wicket.

282 was big total to chased down it will be recorded chase for England. Indian team started with Goswami & Ekta Bisht. England opener started well but England lost two quick wickets of Tammy Beaumont & Sarah Taylor and England were 42 for 2 in 10.5. Then in 18th over England lost another wicket of Natalie Sciver. Then captain Heather Knight & Fran Wilson added 77 runs for a 4th wicket. After Knight got out England required 147 runs in 103 balls with 6 wickets in hand. Wilson was in good touch but on the other hand, England lost wickets. In 44th over Wilson (81) got out and England only manages to score 246 runs and India won the match by 35 runs. Deepti Sharma took 3 wickets, Shikha Pandey took 2 wickets & Poonam Yadav took 1 wicket. Smriti Mandhana awarded by MOM for her 90 in 72 balls.
