Fakhar Zaman’s 91 help Pakistan to seal the ninth successive T20I series win

Top two teams of the T20I ranking were playing against each other in the final of the T20 tri-series in Zimbabwe. Both Australia and Pakistan won 3 matches and lost 1 match each. Out of these two teams, Australia was looking more balanced side as compare to Pakistan. Aaron Finch and Fakhar Zaman were the key players for Australia and Pakistan respectively. Sahibzada Farhan made his T20I debut for Pakistan. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first.

D’Arcy Short opened the inning with captain Aaron Finch. Short was in poor form but in this match, he was in good touch. Short & Finch (47) added 95 runs for the first wicket in 9.5 overs. But in the span of 13 balls, Australia lost wickets of Finch & Maxwell. Then Short (76) & Stoinis (12) added 37 runs for the third wicket and Australia were 148 for 4 in 16.2 overs. After this Travis Head scored 19 runs in 11 balls and Australia scored 183 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. At one point it looks like Australia will score 190-200 but middle order failure costs them. Mohammad Amir took 3 wickets where Shadab Khan took 2 wickets.

180+ always a big total in T20 cricket. Also apart from Fakhar Zaman, no one was in good form. Inform Fakhar Zaman open the inning with debutant Sahibzada Farhan. Surprisingly Glenn Maxwell opens the attack for Australia and he took two wickets of Sahibzada Farhan & Hussain Talat in very first over and Pakistan were 2 for 2 in first over. Then Fakhar & Sarfraz added 45 runs for the third wicket. After Sarfraz got out for 28, but Fakhar was in good touch and Shoaib Malik gave him good support and both added 97 runs for the fourth wicket.

Fakhar Zaman got out for 91 and he misses his well-deserving century then Shoaib (43*) and Asif Ali did the job for his team. Pakistan won the match & series by 6 wickets with four balls to spare and seal their ninth successive T20I series win. This is Pakistan’s highest successful chase in T20I. Glenn Maxwell took 2 wickets where Richardson took one wicket. Fakhar Zaman awarded by the player of the match for his inning of 91 in 46  balls & player of the series for his 278 runs in a series.
